Wonderful store which keeps getting better every year as they grow and evolve. Products choices are excellent, but if ever they don't have what I need then they are always willing to order items as well. The staff are always excellent if it ever comes to a warranty issue and even doing immediate bike repairs so that I could get out on my ride again! Keep doing what you're doing HG!

We rented two paddle boards from higher ground sports on a weekend away from Calgary. The night prior to our trip we called higher ground to inquire about boards and places to paddle. On the phone we were told to either go to cedar lake (which they said was small and would be busy) or kinbasket lake (which is out of town but would be quieter and a bit more challenging). We decided to rent two paddle boards from 1pm to 630pm for a fair price. The following day we arrive to pick up our boards and once again a young female employee gave us those two suggestions as well. Since we wanted to avoid the crowd we decided for kin basket. We drove the 50 minutes to get there only to find out it was closed. We then called higher ground to let them know we just wasted 2 hours of our time on a recommendation as we now had to drive back to cedar lake. Their response was basically oops I had no idea. We spent the rest of our rental period at the small lake. Upon returning to the shop, we asked if there was any sort of compensation that could be offered for leading us in the wrong place. We even simply wanted to have the extra hour that we ordered to be refunded. Unfortunately, the employee said that it wasnt her fault and people drive around with their rentals all the time. After asking for the 1 extra hour to be credited, she responded I cant do refunds and a very insulting its only 11$. The quality of the board was great. But our day paddling was thrown off by this poor customer service experience. If you rent out paddle boards, then you should be informed on where to send people when they ask you for your advice. If youre unsure, dont say anything. If you give wrong advice, maybe own up to it next time.
Great all around store. Amazing courses for both summer and winter, with everything you need to go with it - rentals or purchase. One stop shop for your mountain experience! I have enjoyed both summer and winter experiences here - trail running and mountain bike courses, stand up paddle board rentals in the summer, cross country ski gear and snowshoe rentals in the winter. Great place, great people. Always willing to special order if you want something specific that isnt in the shop. Great sales on end of season rentals too!
