Not bad. I liked the hotel room. The bed was comfortable and I liked the desk staff, who were very polite. I didnt like the shower, it took a long time to heat up, and the spout would occasionally squeal which I thought was odd. I also didnt appreciate how an express checkout receipt had been slipped under our door during the night. Ive stayed in many hotels in my life and Ive never had that happen. Ive always settled accounts with someone, not just had it slipped under my door.
This is a stop over for us. We were too tired to continue the drive and the section of road coming up was some of the most dangerous. The Holiday Inn was a relief. Clean, efficient, their staff found us a quiet room. Breakfast was a different matter. Instead of toast and muffins, the inn laid out eggs, bacon and pancakes. The pancakes come out of this cute little machine, 4 at a time, perfectly formed and tasty. Gotta like that.
Legit rooms. I've stayed at a fair amount of expresses but this is one of the better ones. The only down side was the rude front desk lady who was definitely not a people person. It must've been a bad morning for her or something but your job is to wear a smile and be courteous....
This hotel was very clean and had a great whirlpool which was perfect after a long drive. Unfortunately the hotel did not provide housecoats so we had to walk back to our room in wet swimwear and towels. I was very shocked at breakfast that there were only paper plates and bowls and plastic cutlery to use. In this era of "Zero waste" I personally feel that the Holiday Inn should be more in tune with waste management efforts and should provide their breakfasts with china plates/cups and metal cutlery.
To be honest, I didn't expect much and have been pleasantly surprised by this hotel. Family rooms are very pleasant and large. They even have a swimming pool. Included breakfast is good enough (as long as you don't show up at the same time than a tourists group). I stayed there for family vacations in the Yoho Park and lake Louise. I discovered Golden that is much nicer than what the hotel surroundings would let you believe.
